Samuel Maama Marquaye is a dancer, choreographer, percussionist and a comic actor, who discovered his talent at a very tender age in Bukom, a suburb in Accra-Ghana. At the age of thirteen, he joined the Shidaa Cultural Troupe, after some years “He realized that his passion for dance, drumming and theatre act is not just his talent but became his profession”. A few years later he was appointed the Artistic Director of the Shidaa Cultural Troup of Ghana, he then went on to choreographed and led the group to win competitions like Yosakoi, Samsung Chat222, Rush Energy Drink Awards in 2017 and he was honored by the National Commission on Culture as an Extraordinary Performer in 2023 and got the chance to tour outside Ghana to Libya, Dubai, Germany and Austria.
Marquaye and the Shidaa Cultural Troupe performed in Production Company shows like the African Cup of Nation (CAF 2008), African Hockey Cup for Nation (AFHF 2009), Ghana Music Awards with (Amanzdeba 2013), Ghana Meet Naija with (E. L. 2013), and Okyeame Kwame (Versatile Show 2016).
Marquaye is very grateful to be given the opportunities that he has had in his life at the age of 39 years old and hopes to take things a long way. He is very pleased to have been a part of the cast of Okyeame Kwame Versatile Show. Since moving to the United State on September 23, 2023, Samuel Marquaye has been working and performing with The Akwaaba Ensemble.
